Le château Lafon Rochet, un Saint-Estèphe hors du commun

L’histoire même de Lafon-Rochet remonte au 17ème siècle. La propriété était alors connue sous le nom de Domaine Rochet et appartenait à Antoinette de Guillemotes qui en épousant Etienne de Lafon, rebaptisa le domaine sous le nom de Château Lafon-Rochet. Au cours des 150 ans qui suivirent, le Château fut entretenu par les héritiers d’Etienne de Lafon qui firent face aux maladies et difficultés économiques du vignoble, et amenèrent Lafon-Rochet au classement de 1855 des Grands crus du Médoc.
Rattrapé par les difficultés, à l’aube du 20ème siècle le Château fut alors repris par de nouveaux propriétaires qui marqua le début d’une longue période d’instabilité, jusqu’en 1960 quand la famille Tesseron reprit le domaine. En 2007, Basile Tesseron rejoint à son tour son père afin de continuer le travail entrepris par son grand-père, celui qui l’avait tout jeune déjà initié aux arômes et saveurs du Cognac.
Avec passion, humour et ambition, Basile poursuit le travail de ces prédécesseurs, transportant ainsi Lafon-Rochet à travers les âges. En commençant par recréer le cuvier de la propriété, comme un renouveau à la recherche de l’excellence et d’une qualité en adéquation avec ce terroir d’exception, ainsi que ces valeurs familiales et humaines fil conducteur de ces 5 siècles d’aventure.

The history of Lafon-Rochet dates back to the 17th century. The property was then known as Domaine Rochet and belonged to Antoinette de Guillemotes who married Etienne de Lafon, renamed the estate under the name Château Lafon-Rochet. Over the next 150 years, the Château was maintained by the heirs of Etienne de Lafon, who faced the disease and economic difficulties of the vineyard, and brought Lafon-Rochet to the 1855 classification of Grands Crus du Médoc.
Struck by the difficulties, at the dawn of the 20th century the castle was then taken over by new owners who marked the beginning of a long period of instability, until 1960 when the Tesseron family took over the estate. In 2007, Basil Tesseron joined his father in turn to continue the work undertaken by his grandfather, the one who had already young him already initiated to the aromas and flavors of Cognac.
With passion, humor and ambition, Basil continues the work of his predecessors, carrying Lafon-Rochet through the ages.
