The history of Lafon-Rochet itself dates back to the 17th century. The property was then known as Domaine Rochet and belonged to Antoinette de Guillemotes who, on marrying Etienne de Lafon, renamed the estate Château Lafon-Rochet. Over the next 150 years, the Château was maintained by the heirs of Etienne de Lafon, who coped with the illnesses and economic difficulties of the vineyard, and brought Lafon-Rochet into the 1855 classification of the Médoc Grands Crus.
Caught up in difficulties, at the dawn of the 20th century the Château was taken over by new owners, which marked the beginning of a long period of instability, until 1960 when the Tesseron family took over the estate. In 2007, Basile Tesseron joined his father in order to continue the work undertaken by his grandfather, who had introduced him to the aromas and flavours of Cognac at a very young age.
With passion, humour and ambition, Basile continues the work of his predecessors, transporting Lafon-Rochet through the ages. Starting by recreating the vat room of the estate, as a renewal in search of excellence and quality in line with this exceptional terroir, as well as the family and human values that have been the guiding light of these 5 centuries of adventure.
