With French Deal
French Deal was born out of a meeting between hip hop culture and a love of fashion and luxury. More than just a brand, French Deal is the menswear brand that links three cultures. Urban spirit, black culture and noble materials combine with hip-hop, African elegance and the classic tradition of Western menswear to create original, authentic pieces.
Here, it's all about roots. Beautiful materials, rare skills and a history - that's what French Deal has to offer.
French Deal feels like elegant revenge, a way of bringing together three cultures that have shaped creative director Steeven Kodjia and led him to express his convictions through his art. Authenticity is uncompromising here. It's about success, yes, but with the strength of the wrist. It's about the richness of objects, yes, but with the value of exceptional ancestral workmanship.
Show location: palais de tokyo
Date: 23 June 2018
Steeven Kodjia, a designer who builds bridges between Africa and France, between Côte d'Ivoire and Paris...
I met him when he set up his company ten years ago. Steeven is a man of materials, he likes to create by seeing the fabric, the hand (as we say in professional jargon), the touch... He started by reselling Hip Hop clothing at a time when there was none in Paris. Always on the lookout for exceptional materials, his collections are inspired by Africa and the Ivory Coast. Everything is made at 100% in France.
On 23 June, for his very first fashion week show at the Palais de Tokyo, he took up the history of the Baoulé people and mixed historical codes with trendy fashion! A multitude of sky-blue and turquoise colours, the red and black of traditional Baoulé fabrics, the black and white relief of Massai fabrics...
He gave us a colourful fashion show that represented today's French Deal man.
FRENCH DEAL is street wear versus haute couture.
