GRILLON, an exceptional artist
Janine Grillon was born in Paris. She studied art at the Ecole Nationale des Arts Appliqués (Poster and Advertising). She joined the mime school of Etienne Decroux in Paris (until 1959). School work and creation with Etienne and Maximilien Decroux.
She exhibited for the first time at the Museum of Modern Art in Paris. She won the Paris Biennale prize in 1962 for the masks, sets and costumes of "La Marmite" after Plautus (Théâtre de la Mandragore). This creation was presented in 1963 at the Bordeaux television station.
Grillon exhibits paintings on faces photographed by Thérèse Le Prat at the Museum of Decorative Arts (Louvre). This exhibition is then shown all over the world (Asia - Africa - America) between 1964 and 1970. Grillon is the artistic director of the Mandragore troupe and makes the sets, masks and costumes for all the creations of the troupe directed by Wolfram Mehring (Leonce and Lena, The Cat, Antigone, Devil's Cocktail, Red Lights and Metamorphoses etc.).
Grillon joins the Japanese company of Yano Hideyuki and plays "Au puits de l'épervier" at the "in" festival in Avignon and in Tokyo, Japan the following year. Tour throughout Japan. Grillon exhibits numerous paintings at the S Gallery in Münsters, Westphalia. Grillon devotes herself mainly to painting as well as to her paper sculptures (Shiborigami) which she exhibits in Paris in private galleries.
