"Choosing portraiture means taking an interest in and honouring others. Reminding them of the beauty, grandeur, poetry and gods within themselves. We live in a society that tries too hard to diminish us, to trivialise us and to eradicate our spirituality. Through these portraits, I invoke the energy that must never be extinguished in each and every one of us. Jika
The book is made up of 146 portraits from woodcuts hand-engraved by artist Jika and pressed by master printmaker Stéphane Guibaud. 300 copies of the book were produced by Escourbiac presses in south-west France.
