Created in 2004 by Eric du Faÿ, the Orchestre Petites Mains Symphoniques is made up exclusively of the following musicians of children aged between 6 and 24.
Because art is essential to children's development, the ambition of the Petites Mains Symphoniques Association is to make the Orchestra available to everyone, without social discrimination, as an exemplary tool for learning to live in harmony, to engage in dialogue, to co-exist and to excel through the joy of working together. The success of this initiative can be measured by the number of children who have joined the adventure since its inception. In fact, this unprecedented project brings together more than 500 children and more than 10,000 since the start of the adventure.
The association organises three academies a year in order to enable children to work on their repertoire: work by section, orchestra rehearsals in tutti...before performing in concert throughout the year.
The Orchestre National des Petites Mains Symphoniques is also open to other musical groups, making it a showcase for young French instrumentalists. The values of this association are Pleasure, Solidarity, Conviviality and Excellence.in harmony, to dialogue and to surpass themselves through the joy of working together.
Quatre Couleurs was delighted to be able to accompany child musicians from all over France (members of the Petites Mains Symphoniques association, created and chaired by Eric Dufaye) to the 'Iguazú en concierto' music festival in Argentina. Every evening, hundreds of children from all over the world came together to share their passion for music with us at the week-long series of concerts.
And for the tenth anniversary of the "Iguazú en concierto" festival, its founder, conductor Amanda Merenzon, brought together 700 children of all nationalities at the foot of the Iguazu Falls for a giant concert on the last evening of the festival!
Situated at the crossroads of 3 borders (Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay) Iguazú is a magical place where the waterfalls go on forever!
Iguazú is also the legendary location where the film Mission (starring Robert de Niro and Jeremy Irons) was shot.
It was in this paradise that the child musicians played to an admiring audience! Conductor Laurent Couson led the 700 child musicians on stage as they performed the music from the film Mission, composed by Enio Morricone, to an emotional audience.
